ChoirMaloy: Ut Queant Laxis
Guido d' Arrezzo, one of the earliest music theorists, used the first syllables of each line of a familiar (at the time) hymn Ut Queant Laxis to make a major diatonic scale. "Ut" was later changed to "Do" and "Ti" was added. Christian monks developed both music notation (circa 450 AD) and harmony (11th century AD). The first 600 years of music history is exclusively Christian music.
