tshakkboom: The time of a song A very big part of my music culture, growing up in Paris. Former #Jazz #pianist & #composer #SergeGainsbourg (who married #JaneBirkin) managed in the 60s-70s an almost impossible mission: turning the music genre known as "#Chanson" (which means nothing else than "#Song") into something that would even appeal to the always growing jazz music scene, in the middle of Saint-Germain des Prés, in #Paris. It's important to remember that after the WW II, Jazz music literally took over Paris in storm. An so, it wasn't a surprise that most #musicians from that time wanted to be like #MilesDavis (who btw lived in Paris, and even dated Juliette Gréco). #French #singer #icon #JulietteGreco, who was very impressed with Gainsbourg's writing skills, encouraged him to develop that very appealing mix of simple melodies paired with, sometimes even quite complex, #PopJazz chords. To create something new. Délicieux! Looking forward to watch again the great Biopic about #Gainsbourg tomorrow's #movienight (maybe the nicest pastime on a Saturday night) ♫ Anna Mouglalis & Eric Elmosnino - La Javanaise (Chez Gréco)
