tshakkboom: Music ́s a Weapon As some of us feel powerless & have to look on relatively helplessly as the American system daily trample on human rights, and none of the stars, we enthusiastically celebrate for years feel feel entitled to take initiatives to combat this injustice. I attach importance on the day of his death to take a moment to remember one of the biggest leaders the music has ever seen. Imagine a black musician in the middle of the lawless Africa of the early 70s, the most violent and sensitive period of the post-colonial time. A time where all means were allowed for western powers in order to preserve their influence in the old colonies. This man kept releasing his controversial music although knowing that he was going to be arrested and brutalized in the prisons of Lagos. His name was Fela Anikulapo Kuti (15 October 1938 – 2 August 1997), and his message was: "As far as black people is concerned, music can not be for enjoyment only, music must be for revolution." #FelaKuti #Singer #Songwriter #Musician #Activist #Afrobeat #Highlife #Africa70s #Nigeria #BlackLivesMatters #Black
