: Krossblade SkyCruiser As if drones weren't cool enough, how about taking a model drone and turning it into a life size VTOL Hybrid? Well that's exactly what Krossblade has done with what they're calling, the SkyCruiser. SkyCruiser is a concept 5-seat hybrid VTOL transformer airplane that can also be driven on the road like a car. VTOL, vertical take off and landing, enables a traveler to travel directly from LA to San Francisco in just a little over 1 hour for example, having a cruise speed of 314 mph. It's a 400 hp combustion engine coupled to a 360 hp generator that makes it all possible using a 12 KWh high discharge battery. SkyCruiser has a flight range of 1,006 miles (which could take you from New Jersey to Miami, Florida), and a maximum payload of 1,003 lbs. When driving on the road its max speed is 75 mph and goes from 0 to 62 mph in 7s using a wheel mounted 150 hp electric motor. It has 8 independent VTOL rotors that enable it to hover and fly like a helicopter and all easily fold away during the "switchblade transformation" at the press of a button making it a seamless aerodynamic airframe conversion into an airplane. It's a safe and quiet electric multirotor system and I only hope that I can afford one.
